As if you needed another reason to make this recipe, nuts are so good for you. See what the Mayo Clinic has to say about their benefits. They will keep you satiated and that helps when your goal is weight loss.
With this recipe you can choose to use your favorite ones. I have used pecans, almonds and cashews with great success and sometimes all three at once. YUM!
Did I mention this recipe doesn’t call for egg whites? Nope! I completely removed them.
So pick your favorite nut and let’s go!
Cinnamon Candied Nuts
Ingredients
- 3 cups nuts
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup water
- pinch salt optional
Instructions
- Bring sugar, water and cinnamon to a boil while whisking it together.
- Add nuts and salt. Stir constantly.
- Continue stirring until it seizes up and you just start to smell it roasting.
- Immediately pour the nuts onto parchment paper and separate with forks. You have to do this quickly or the nuts will stick together.
Nutrition
I have made this recipe using maple syrup, monkfruit sweetener and coconut sugar, all worked well, but I still prefer using organic sugar. The sugared nuts get a dry coating that allows them to stay separate and not stick together. I think that works well as a gift. However, if you want to save even more calories then try the monkfruit sweetener, but pay attention because it won’t take as long to cook. If you haven’t tried it, monkfruit sweetener is zero calories and plant based. Go for it!

I’m all for anything concerning cinnamon and sugar! I swear when I was reading this I could actually smell it lol. Great recipe!
Thanks Monique!
oooh these look lush! such a great idea! I love cinnamon and nuts so i am sure i’d love this!
OK so the nuts…………..THEY ARE DELICIOUS! I plan to make some to hand out as a “healthy” alternative to fudge or Christmas cookies.People will still get a sweet taste but not all the SUGAR that is in most holiday dessert! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
So glad you liked them!
Okay, I absolutely love this because I grew up in Chicago and the street vendors used to sell these during Christmas and it smelled SO good. Also, I’m allergic to eggs so really appreciate that I can make these without.
Awesome! I hope you love them and they bring back good memories!
I have to try these! I love both nuts and cinnamon, but never tried them together!
SO GOOD!
Looks so easy to do! I will have to try and make them around this Christmas time:))
These sound so delicious and perfect for Christmas stockings!
Good idea!
Ooh this looks tasty – and I totally agree, nuts are such good nutrition. This looks yummy too – but mostly, I can’t wait for when it fills my house with that yummy smell!
The smell is incredible!
This recipe sounds (and looks) delicious! I love pecan nuts, but I’m also a bit allergic to them. I can only eat one or two before my tongue and lips start swalling and feeling all itchy. I still eat one or two when I can 😉
Oh no! You can swap out the pecans for another nut, if you’re not allergic to them.
Mmm this looks so good. I’m sure they’re delicious by themselves but they would also go soooo well topped on many things – like ice cream or brownies 🙂 I have a sweet tooth hehe
I like the way you think Stephanie!
Wow I definitely have to try this recipe, it sounds super easy yet tasty. I love the convenience of having a snack ready to go in 6 minutes, that will definitely help me control my random cravings. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Thanks! It is SO EASY and QUICK! I think you will love them!
I love nuts so much and these ones will definitely be on my to do list!
Thanks! I hope you love them as much as I do!
I love any type of candied nut! they make the perfect snakc!
Perfect for Christmas!
These sound delicious, I bet this is popular over the holidays.
I made these pecans and almonds this afternoon! They are very yummy!
I’m so glad you enjoyed them Amanda!
These sound so good! I love spiced nuts :)!
Cinnamon sugar nuts are my fave!! I would eat the whole batch!
What do you mean by seizes up?
I mean the liquid evaporates and the sugar starts to crystallize and harden. It becomes just a little more challenging to stir.
candied nuts are usually more expensive than the normal salted ones and I hardly buy them… I’m so glad you’ve shared the recipe as I can finally make some for myself!
I need to be sugar free, so how did you use the recipe sugar free. You mentioned using monkfruit. Did you use it in equal amount of the sugar?……and everything else the same?
Thanks.
Hi Patricia, I used an equal amount of monkfruit sugar.
I am not to have sugar, you mentioned that you used tried this recipe with maple syrup, monkfruit sweetener and coconut sugar, Can you share the quantities that you used with them. Thank you
I used equal amounts of all of those ingredients. I like maple syrup the best out of those 3. Hope you enjoy!
what brand of monk fruit did you use. There are so many kinds and types of it.
I’ve used Lakanto brand monkfruit sweetener classic. Enjoy!
Will the candied nuts be sticky of I don’t use the pd sugar?
I’m not sure what you are asking… the nuts are not sticky once they cool.
Sorry for not being clear. I do not want to use powdered sugar on the cooked nuts. Will they be sticky if I don’t use it?
The recipe doesn’t call for powdered sugar. I use organic cane sugar.
