Healthy Homemade Corn Tortillas

A healthy homemade corn tortilla recipe that is packed with flavor and simple to make.  These tortillas can be frozen, so you can always have gluten free, low calorie tortillas on hand!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • squeeze of lime juice

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix salt and masa harina together. Pour 1 1/2 cups water into the mixture and stir until a ball forms. The dough will feel firm and springy. 
  • Preheat skillet on medium-high heat.
  • Form a golf ball sized ball of dough. Place between plastic wrap or parchment paper and flatten using a tortilla press. 
  • Gently remove the tortilla from the press and cook in hot skillet for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Flip and cook the other side for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Place cooked tortillas between a cloth napkin or a tortilla warmer to keep warm. Repeat method until all the dough is gone. Enjoy!
