I think I’ve perfected healthy spinach artichoke dip. I didn’t think it was possible to make it vegan, but I also didn’t think Easy Vegan Queso Dip was possible, and it’s incredible!

This vegan spinach artichoke dip is, and always will be, my all-time favorite appetizer – but this Easy Baba Ganoush runs a close second! While I’m thinking about it this Brownie Batter Hummus is pretty amazing, too!

It’s creamy, rich, and chocked full of tangy artichoke hearts and bits of spinach, but this version is dairy free, gluten free, vegan, and most importantly – delicious!

WHAT MAKES THIS SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP HEALTHY?

The traditional Spinach Artichoke Dip is loaded with dairy products like cream cheese and mozzarella. This one has no cream cheese or dairy cheese, but opts for egg-free mayo, so no cholesterol and it’s dairy-free and lower in fat. Some healthier recipes call for beans or simply low-fat cream cheese, but not this one. It has 5 simple ingredients.

How many calories are in spinach artichoke dip?

Typically when you order Spinach Artichoke Dip at a restaurant you are ordering around 1500 whopping calories! Not to mention all of the fat and cholesterol. Not this one!

This healthy vegan dip has about 191 calories per serving depending on which vegan mayo you use. Keep in mind you will be adding calories depending on what you use to dip. If you’re looking for low cal, opt for veggies.

I’ve been making this Healthy Spinach Artichoke Dip for so many years I can’t even remember the first time I baked it. I do know that each time I serve it, it is devoured. It’s a definite crowd-pleaser!

INGREDIENTS FOR HEALTHY SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP

This dip does call for a couple of unique ingredients, but I know you will enjoy egg-free mayonnaise once you try it. It is just as tasty (if not tastier) than regular mayo, but saves you a whopping 6 mg of cholesterol per tablespoon.

As for nutritional yeast, you can find it in most healthy sections in grocery stores. It has a strong flavor that is cheesy and makes a great cheese substitute. It provides nutrition while saving calories. It is a complete protein and contains B vitamins, niacin, selenium, and zinc, just to name a few. It’s also GREAT on popcorn!

You can make your own Vegetable Bouillon Powder from nutritional yeast. It’s so flavorful and great to have on hand. I predict it will become a staple in your pantry.

  • Vegan Mayo
  • Nutritional Yeast
  • Frozen Spinach
  • Canned artichokes
  • Garlic powder

HOW DO YOU MAKE HEALTHY SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP?

It’s so easy! You can always have the 5 ingredients on hand and have a healthy appetizer ready in a pinch. Enjoy!

  1. Mix all of the spinach dip ingredients together until thoroughly combined.
  2. Next, pour into an 8×8 baking dish and bake! Actually, I mix mine right in the baking dish, but you have to wipe the sides so it doesn’t burn and it looks nicer.
  3. Enjoy!

HOW TO SERVE HEALTHY SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP

There’s no wrong way to eat this healthy spinach artichoke dip… but here are a few suggestions –

  • Tortilla Chips
  • Pretzels  – the flat ones are great for dipping.
  • Veggies – bell pepper slices, zucchini or cucumber slices, celery, and carrots are all great healthy dipping options.
  • Bread – toasted baguette slices are perfect with this healthy dip.
  • Your finger – kidding! But if you do, I won’t tell.

CAN YOU MAKE THIS HEALTHY SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP IN THE CROCKPOT?

You really don’t need to dirty your crockpot to make this vegan spinach artichoke dip, but if you’d like to you can cook it on low for 2-3 hours. It’s a great way to take it to parties and have it stay warm.

STORING/REHEATING SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP

Prep ahead: You can make this dip the night before without baking. Cover and place in the refrigerator. Simply bake per instructions when you’re ready to eat.

Storing Vegan Spinach Artichoke Dip: This dip will last for 3-4 days in the refrigerator, but I doubt you’ll have leftovers – it’s that good!

Freezing Spinach Artichoke Dip: I have not tried freezing this healthy dip, but I don’t think it will freeze well and I don’t recommend it.

Reheating Spinach Artichoke Dip: If you need to reheat this spinach artichoke dip – you can put it in your microwave for 2-3 minutes or reheat it in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Keep in mind that the oil in the vegan mayo will separate, so you will need to stir it.

I just love the look of this! I agree that having this at a restaurant would not be a good idea given all the additives and total calories we would be consuming. This recipe looks pretty straightforward and is something I would really like to try putting together.

Tastes great. I even used frozen “power greens” instead of spinach because they were out! Really good with tortilla chips! Note: if you don’t like nutritional yeast flavor, look for another recipe!

I’d never had spinach artichoke dip before, but with a bag of fresh spinach in the fridge and weirdly a can of artichokes in the cupboard I gave it a go. It’s so good and I’m now wondering why I spent so many years missing out. Tinned artichokes on my shopping list so I can make it again.
