Why this is the best homemade dairy-free ranch seasoning mix

I used to love ranch dressing and the thicker the better! Who’s with me?

When I weighed nearly 300 lbs , I would use the popular brand of ranch dressing and think I was eating healthy because, after all, I was eating it on a salad or dipping veggies.  Little did I know then that two tablespoons had 140 calories and 14 grams of fat!

As bad as that is, making your own salad dressing using the famous brand of dry ranch seasoning mix isn’t much better.

The first two ingredients are salt and monosodium glutamate, aka MSG.  MSG can cause all sorts of reactions like headaches, facial pressure, numbness, drowsiness, and tingling. If you’ve ever experienced a reaction to MSG you know you want to avoid it.

I decided to make my own homemade ranch seasoning mix and make it as healthy as possible. Obviously, I eliminated the MSG, but I also eliminated the dairy and soy. I cut back on the sodium and if you want to cut back on the sodium content, you could completely eliminate the salt.

There are many reasons why this ranch seasoning recipe is better than store-bought packets:

  • It’s healthier! No MSG, no dairy, and much more flavor!
  • You can make your own ranch dressing much cheaper than what you can buy in the grocery stores.
  • Dairy-free ranch dressing is very versatile. You can use it to make homemade ranch dip, this incredible Taco Soup, or vegan ranch salad dressing, and even use it to add ranch flavor to bland foods like potatoes or vegetables.

How Do You Store This Dairy Free Ranch Seasoning Mix Recipe?

This dry ranch seasoning mix will stay fresh if you store it in a mason jar or airtight container.

The ranch dressing mix will stay fresh in your cabinet or pantry for up to a year. The most important thing is to keep the ranch mix away from heat and humidity.

It’s so easy you won’t believe it and you know everything that is in it.  Approximately 2 Tablespoons equals 1 store-bought package and can be used in many ways.

I have become slightly obsessed with it and have been using this vegan ranch seasoning mix in many different ways. Things like homemade ranch dip and vegan ranch dressing have become some of my favorite recipes.

How many calories in Ranch Seasoning Mix

If you are a wise weight loss label reader (I hope you are), you will see that the popular brand serving size is 1/4 teaspoon and has zero calories.

This Homemade Dairy-Free Ranch Seasoning Mix serving size is 1 tablespoon and 31 calories. As you can see from the ingredient list most of the calories are coming from the large, flavorful amounts of onion and garlic powder that I have used in place of MSG. I will take healthy calories over zero chemical calories any day.
