I made this dairy-free poppyseed dressing recipe to accompany my Ultimate Copycat Panera Strawberry Poppyseed Salad. This creamy dressing is a sensational mix of sweet and tangy flavors. You will never miss the dairy and bonus—you can easily make it sugar-free.

When I weighed nearly 300 lbs, I would eat a little bit of salad with my dressing. I mean to say I drenched my salads in salad dressing and never paid attention to how many calories I ate, but now I know a salad like that can have lots of calories.

Even though I have lost 125 pounds and practice healthy eating, I still pay attention to my personal consumption of calories, and this poppyseed salad dressing has quite a few, thanks to the vegan mayo I use. However, a little trick you can use is to add more soy milk or water to thin it or limit the amount you use if you’re on a low calorie diet. It’s worth it!

  • Vegan mayo: I make my own, and it is so simple and a lot cheaper than store-bought, but you can use whatever mayo is your personal preference.
  • Apple cider vinegar – you could also use red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, or white vinegar.
  • White sugar or monk fruit sweetener– for a sugar-free creamy poppy seed dressing.
  • Poppyseeds – you can find them in the spice section of most local grocery stores.
  • Lemon juice – I prefer using fresh ingredients and squeezing a lemon, but you can use shelf-stable lemon juice.
  • Soy milk – or your favorite non-dairy milk. I accidentally left it out of the photo, but trust me; you will need it to thin this homemade poppy seed dressing.
