Delectable Donuts
Delectable Donuts!
OOOOOOhhhhhh, donuts. Â My mouth waters at the site of them. Â They are so pretty and colorful, some round ones with holes, some without, long ones, twisted ones and even some tiny ones. Â They are little works of art and I wanted one, so I created this Delectable Donuts recipe.
If you are watching your cholesterol but you want your cake, so to speak, now you can eat it, too! Â This recipe is CHOLESTEROL FREE!
That’s one of the great benefits of a vegan diet – its naturally cholesterol free. Â So, you can dig into these donuts just remember they still have sugar. Â We have to Intentionally Eat, right?!
You know I lost 125 lbs and have kept it off for years because of Intentionally Eating, right? Â If not, you can check out my story here.
 Ingredients
Dry ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Wet ingredients:
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (original or vanilla)
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Egg replacer for 1 egg (or 2 Tbsp apple sauce)
1/4 cup vegan butter
 Make It
Preheat the oven to 350°
In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Combine the wet ingredients in a saucepan and heat over medium-low just until the butter has melted.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Â The dough will be very soft.
Scoop the dough into a non-stick, ungreased donut pan.  Smooth out the tops for a prettier donut.  Be warned you will be licking your fingers when you finish, so wash your hands afterwards 🙂
Bake for 12 minutes. Â They are done when a toothpick comes out clean. Â Invert the pan and allow the donuts to cool completely on a rack before icing.
Delectable Donut Icing
1 cup powdered sugar (vegan, if you care)
2 Tbsp vegan butter, melted
2 Tbsp unsweetened almond milk
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp vanilla
Blend ingredients together and frost away! Â I used my vitamix to blend the icing ingredients, but you can use a hand blender if you want.
Also, if you don’t have a donut pan you can use your muffin pan and make muffins instead. Â Hey, if you have your muffin pan out you are going to love my Easy Blueberry Muffin recipe!
BTW, I doubled the recipe making 6 donuts and 20 muffins, which I call donut holes. Â I LOVED donut holes as a kid. Â OOOOOOhhhhhh, donuts.
