  • Onion Powder 
  • Dried basil or fresh basil 
  • Italian seasoning, dried oregano, or fresh oregano
  • Black Pepper and Kosher Salt – just a pinch, or use this Homemade Salt Substitute.
  • Optional
  • Sugar – just a pinch of sugar helps balance the acidity of the tomatoes
  • Red pepper flakes – just a pinch for a bit of heat.

This great recipe will add an incredible depth of flavor to your bowl of tomato soup. 

  • Heat the Soup: Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and begin warming the soup.
  • Enhance with Herbs: Stir in dried or fresh herbs.
  • Boost the Flavor: If desired, add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a bit of heat and a little sugar or baking soda to balance the acidity of the tomatoes.
  • Season with Salt and Pepper: Add salt and pepper to taste. Start a small amount of salt and black pepper, then adjust as needed. Remember, tomatoes have natural sodium. 
  • Simmer: Allow the soup to simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to let all the flavors meld together.
